Information Regarding How We Handle Your Health Information


If you are a student*, the University of California follows the California Confidentiality of Medical Information Act (CMIA), the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) and other applicable laws that apply to the use and disclosure of your health information.

 

If you are a non-student, the use and disclosure of your health information is governed by the Student Health Center’s HIPAA Notice of Privacy Practices (see link below).

HIPAA

 

California state law and the federal Health Insurance Portability and Accounting Act of 1996 protect the confidentiality of communications between health professionals and their patients. At the Student Health Center, we will not discuss information about you with others without your consent except as required by law.  For more information, please review our Notice of Privacy Practices.
