The Eye Clinic offers comprehensive eye examinations, soft, gas-permeable and disposable contact lenses, plus a variety of frame styles, all at discounted prices to all registered students and their spouses.

Mission Statement

To provide quality eye care for all UCI students with up to date products and state of the art equipment at a low cost; and to prepare qualified students for a future career in the field of optometry by expanding their knowledge of optometry through clinical experience, observation, and participation in research. (adopted in 2000)

2007-2008 Student Health Center Eye Clinic Services provided by: Orange County Optometric Group (Same as past four years):

• Annual comprehensive eye examination for $5.00 (Includes glaucoma testing, dilated fundus examination, Thresholding visual fields, contact lens and LASIK consultation).
• Prescription lenses of ANY POWER for $20 per pair (More than two pairs are allowed within reason).
• 50% off contact lens fitting fees.
• $20 off the already discounted frame prices (All frames are priced at 30% off retail price)
• $20 off the already discounted material price for contact lenses per year.

FAQ

• How can I get a refill on my contact lenses?

  The best way is to make an appointment at UCI's Student Health. Please either bring or wear your contact lenses, if applicable, so that the perscription strength and fit can be checked. In most cases, your lens strength will be in stock and will be dispensed during your appointment.

  Call (949) 824-5939 and mention you cannot make it in for an appointment but would like more contacts. We will pull your chart, call you back, and give you the following options:

  • Pay for a supply by credit card and pick it up at UCI or have it mailed directly to your home.
  • Pick up a spare pair from the clinic to hold you until you can make an appointment.
• Can I get my eyes examined other than between the hours of 9 AM and 5 PM, Monday through Friday?

  YES. You can now get your eyes examined by the Orange County Optometric Group outside of normal business hours by calling (714) 776-2020 for an appointment. State that you have GSHIP insurance through UCI and request directions to the off-campus office. Evening and weekend appointments are available. The drive to Orange County Optometric Group's off-campus office is approximately a half hour from UCI, or fifteen minutes from the UCI Medical Center.

• If I feel I have a medical condition related to my eyes, where do I go?

  You can call the UCI's Student Health Center for an eye appointment. If it is an emergency, ask to be seen that day.
