The Medical Clinics offer primary health care and specialty consultation services to all registered UCI students. There is an affordable fee for utilizing services at the Medical Clinics (see Cost of Care).
ACCESSING CARE
The General Clinic provides a variety of primary health care services for students, including diagnosis and treatment of most acute and chronic disorders, management of injuries, as well as preventive health services for both men and women. If you are not feeling well or just have a feeling that something may be wrong with your health, make an appointment to see a clinician. Most of the time you will get an appointment within 3 days.
GENERAL MEDICINE CLINIC
Appointment Preferred
For most routine problems you can usually get an appointment within a few days. Due to high demands for physical exams and women's health exams, the wait time for an appointment may be longer, therefore please plan ahead of time if you need a physical exam for pre-employment clearance, admission to professional schools, or educational programs abroad. If you have an urgent health problem you will be given an appointment with the Same Day Clinic, or be seen in our Walk In Clinic.
Basic physical exams as well as exams required for participation in intercollegiate sports, the Educational Abroad Program, or for employment purposes are regularly performed. One of our most active clinics, the Women's Health Clinic performs women's exams, Pap smears, screening for infections, and provides contraceptive counseling and management. The General Medicine Clinic can also assist you with your travel health needs, including most travel immunizations, malaria preventive medications and other travel-related prescription drugs, and advice on travel safety.
Campus employees who are injured while at work can be seen and treated at the General Medicine Clinic.

Patient Education
Patient education handouts, brochures and pamphlets on a variety of health topics are available to patients free of charge.
Immunizations
Immunizations to prevent disease outbreaks are offered at Student Health, including vaccines against polio, diphtheria, tetanus, measles, mumps, rubella, tetanus, hepatitis B, hepatitis A, and chickenpox. Meningococcal vaccine is available and is especially recommended for students residing in dormitories. The flu vaccine is offered every fall, either by appointment or walk-in to the Flu Vaccine Clinic.
Tuberculosis Screening
Student Health encourages screening for tuberculosis among students and campus employees, with a simple and inexpensive test called PPD. Students residing in housing and participating in athletics are particularly urged to be screened for tuberculosis. Tuberculosis is highly contagious; it is possible to both contract and spread tuberculosis without being aware that you have done so.
NUTRITION COUNSELING
A registered dietitian is available by appointment to assist you individually with diverse topics ranging from healthy eating to special diets, weight management and eating disorder.
